Abstract. The Northern Delta of Vietnam is a land with a diverse and rich cultural heritage, especially in the culture of rural villages. The village is an ecological unit linked by the components participating in the structure of the village, including material and spiritual values accumulated over many years existing sustainably through successive generations of Vietnamese people. This connection has been formed by many generations, creating a unique identity in this region. During the process of development, the impact of urbanization and industrialization has led to changes in the village structure, land use structure, community lifestyles, architectural space, technical infrastructure, village services, environment, living conditions, ect. This cause of the ecological structure of the village is disrupted, and the inherent characteristics of the rural area are lost. It is essential to summarize, research, and have solutions to preserve and promote the values of the village in architecture, construction planning in rural residential area, towards sustainable development in the future.
